Instructional coaches provide the classroom level support needed to help teachers implement the instructional strategies learned in the PLC. The Middle School Math Project provides teachers in Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, and Midland counties with the opportunity to participate in PLCs.

Objectives:

  • Growth in teacher pedagogical middle school math content knowledge
  • Positive change in teacher instructional practices
  • Positive change in student academic achievement

Instructional Improvements:

  • Incorporating meaningful teacher-student interaction
  • Using investigative tasks
  • Connecting to prior lessons

Preliminary Student Achievement Results:

  • Evidence of a positive impact of teachers participating in coaching and PLCs in 5th and 6th grades
