Summer Solstice Live! with Museum of Cultural and Natural History

We will explore the science behind the solstice, why it happens every year, and how cultures across the world have celebrated the longest day of the year throughout history. Then, follow along to make your own recycled bottle humming bird feeder and feed these summer birds right at home!

Supplies needed:

-1-3 small plastic bottles, preferably water bottles with thin plastic caps, empty and with labels removed

– 3 plastic bendy straws (yellow if possible)

– 3 disposable plastic bowls/plates (red if possible)

– Liquid glue

– String or twine

– Rubber Band

– Screw driver, pen, or something with a sharp end to puncture the plastic cap

– Scissors or Hole Punch

– A helpful adult to assist with sharp objects
